Turbocharging a Restoration Economy
EPIC’s Restoration Program is making high-quality ecological restoration faster, cheaper, and more scalable. We are accelerating the restoration of ecosystems that have been degraded by decades of development, industrial growth, and resource extraction.
About the Restoration Team
We recognize that to restore balance to our natural systems, restoration needs private sector investment. In order to close the gap between public funding and need, we are advancing conservation finance solutions and advocating for innovative programs that generate economic and ecological returns. Our team of innovative subject-matter experts is made up of scientists, restoration practitioners, environmental economists, public servants, policy researchers, lawyers, and Tribal liaisons. As partners to a variety of groups – including government agencies, Tribes, nonprofit organizations, and private sectors – we are navigating the intersections of natural resources and economics and accelerating funding, permitting, and implementation of restoration projects.
Our initiatives are shaping more effective policy, advocating for efficient processes to improve and accelerate permitting, championing resilient program innovations like compensatory mitigation and Pay For Success contracting, and creating pathways to fund nature at scale. Through technical and practical assistance, we are helping communities and Tribes maximize the impact of restoration dollars and co-benefits. Uniquely empowered with EPIC’s Technology and Data, Agriculture, and Water Infrastructure expertise, we are reducing barriers and turbocharging a restoration economy for the 21st century.
Our Goals
Speeding up restoration permitting so complex projects are approved in under a year, and smaller projects take just 60-90 days total.
Attracting another $100 million in private sector financing for nature-based solutions.
