EPIC Comments on the Future of Federal Drinking Water Investment

With the House Committee on Energy and Commerce’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) reauthorization hearing underway and federal supplemental funding set to expire after FY2026, the future of drinking water infrastructure investment is at a critical turning point.

In a new public comment, EPIC urges at least $5.85 billion in annual DWSRF funding, separate appropriations for earmarks, and dedicated funding for lead service line replacement. The comment examines how earmarks affect states’ financing capacity and highlights the importance of sustaining federal investment to address communities’ ongoing drinking water infrastructure needs.
