Meredith LaLumia
Water Legal Fellow
Meredith LaLumia is the Water Legal Fellow at EPIC. Prior to joining EPIC’s Water Team in 2026, she attended Coastal Carolina University for her Honors Bachelor's degree in Marine Science. While there, she presented at multiple conferences regarding her independent research on the anthropogenic impacts on the territoriality of the Atlantic ghost crab, a bioindicator on sandy beaches in the Carolinas. This whitepaper is currently pending publication. Soon after, she earned her J.D. at Vermont Law and Graduate School with a specialization in environmental law. During her time at Vermont Law, she worked with the nonprofit Hanover Conservancy, and served as a law clerk with the Vermont firm Tarrant, Gillies and Shems, both focusing on environmental and land use issues.
Get to Know Me Further
I have been passionate about environmental issues since childhood, which included spending time in nature and later defending mock environmental legislation at debate conferences throughout high school. This sparked my pursuit of a degree in marine science. Learning about climate and coastal issues during my undergraduate studies, I determined that true change would need to happen through policy and reform, which led me to pursue environmental law, advocacy, and policy. Law school allowed me to further develop my desired niche through climate law and water law coursework.
I love spending time with family and friends, swimming in the lakes and rivers throughout Vermont, crocheting, reading historical nonfiction, writing, thrifting, and skiing in the winter months.
