About the Webinar

It has been two years since the U.S. EPA finalized the LCRI, establishing a national requirement for water systems to replace LSLs by 2037. Since then, communities across the country have taken important steps toward replacing LSLs. Some have completed their replacement programs, while others continue to navigate financial, implementation, and legal challenges. 

At the same time, ongoing litigation and shifting federal policy and funding priorities have created new questions about how the rule will be implemented and what lies ahead for LSL replacement.

Join us as we take stock of what communities, states, and the federal government have accomplished over the past two years and explore the remaining challenges and opportunities. 

The webinar will cover:

  • The evolving federal policy and funding landscape and what it means for LSL replacement programs.

  • Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) LSL funding, including opportunities to improve the efficiency of funding allocations.

  • State legislative trends aimed at accelerating LSL replacement and addressing common implementation barriers.

Erica Galante-Johnson

Erica is the Senior Lead Service Line Replacement Policy Analyst at EPIC. Prior to joining EPIC in 2023, Erica worked in the New York State Assembly in the office of the Health Committee Chair, Amy Paulin. Erica holds a PhD and Master’s degree in Biology from the City University of New York and a bachelor’s degree from Universidad Simón Bolívar in Venezuela. As a scientist, she has been involved in numerous interdisciplinary research projects addressing issues operating at the interface of environmental conservation and human health, in both academic and non-profit settings.
